WE WANT TO SHARE a little trick that we use to remove food/debris from under the gum/between the teeth. Have you ever had a little seed or popcorn hull stuck between your teeth that you can't seem to get rid of? Sometimes we see patients with quite significant gum irritation or even an abscess from having some food debris lodged under the gum. The proper flossing technique doesn't quite always get the job done as it may push whatever is stuck under your gum even deeper. All you have to do is take a piece of floss and tie a knot in it (sometimes a double knot, depending on the size of the space and then pull it through the space where you have that "something" stuck. Most of the times it gets the job done!
Of course, if you can't get it out on your own or if your gum does not start to feel better, please don't hesitate to call us and come in to have it removed.
Hope this helps!
